Born in Calgary, Alberta, Mary lived in Winnipeg for seven years before making the move to the West Coast - to Vancouver, British Columbia. In her second year at Gladstone Secondary school, Mary took a course entitled “The World of Business”. The business seed was officially planted!
Like many of her peers, Mary’s first job was at McDonald’s. From there she went on to open two different Starbucks locations - one at Metropolis at Metrotown (corporate), as well as at Grouse Mountain Resorts (licensed). After three years of working at Grouse Mountain, Mary applied to the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) for the Business Management diploma. She plans to complete her Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at BCIT, with a double major in Recreation Management.
Mary expresses her love of music and singing by joining local community choirs. She also actively practices yoga and meditation, and is currently completing her 500 hour Certified Teacher Training. She is a proud Volunteer Coordinator for Wheelchair Rugby, Mary recruits and trains volunteers every year for Wheelchair Rugby for the BC Wheelchair Sports Association (BCWSA).
With a growing family and a baby on the way Mary encourages healthy and fresh eating. In the past year Mary has been growing her own herbs and vegetables at home.
It should come as no surprise that with her many varied interests and hobbies, Mary is a firm believer in striving to lead a well-balanced life.
